ICQ on iPhone, comparison of four ICQ clients

iCQ client is one of those programs, without which it is difficult to imagine your working day. However, the name ICQ, like Xerox, is no longer just a brand; there are a large number of instant messaging services with other names working on the same principle. With the arrival of these applications on iPhone, it became possible to connect new functions that could not be applied on desktop computers: geolocation, voice communication. However, App Store has more than a dozen similar programs for iPhone. How do they differ from each other?

We have selected the four most popular services and compared them with each other.

ICQ Messenger

A classic app that many users keep downloading the old fashioned way, thinking that there is nothing else. On the other hand, this is truly a classic of the genre.

The application has its advantages, for example, ICQ Messenger is installed on any device regardless of OS (iOS, Android, Windows, Linux) . Those who are used to its interface on a computer will easily get used to the application and on iPhone. The system is entered by a mobile phone number. There is a spam filter, which, however, does not always cope with its task.

In the latest versions, it became possible to change the background, delete messages from the chat history and view friends' news.

But all these are just cosmetic changes to the software that needs drastic changes.

Sometimes a bug appears – no messages are sent.

IM +

A messaging service similar to the classic of the genre – ICQ, but designed specifically for iPhone and iPad.

The developers guessed that the future was 'omnivorous' and tried to stuff the program with a large number of accounts that can be created. Thus, it is enough to download IM + to be able to communicate through different services, including the popular Skype and Facebook.

IM + has a nice interface that allows you to perform trivial tasks: view information, rename, delete, etc. What gets the most attention is the built-in web browser, which gives the green light to the resources of the world wide web by leaving the dialog box open. In addition, there are various goodies: sending voice messages and puch notifications, animated emoticons, the ability to change themes, backgrounds and other little things.

Imo instant messenger

Convenient service with additional features. For example, it offers a location determination service. This function is becoming more and more popular and appears both among the 'old-timers' of the segment and among newcomers.

When launched, the program does not require creating a new account and is “friendly” with most social services. To keep the user always in touch, he suggests sending puch notifications.

By the way, it doesn't matter what device you have – Imo will successfully boot on almost any operating system. Various program settings are available, installation of previews, sending voice messages, images, videos and more. The program was awarded the title “Best messaging application according to Lifehacker”.

conclusions

There are no conclusions as such. All presented programs do an excellent job with their functions. Here, small details play the main role in the selection. Someone likes volumetric buttons, someone the ability to customize the background, etc. I personally like IM + more because I'm used to it.
