Hello! Today we will focus on the Quizlet application – a virtual assistant in learning foreign words. We recently wrote about Cram as the best flashcard program for memorizing foreign words. So now Clam is no longer the best. Quizlet seemed more convenient to us. The idea behind the service is simple. You create and add foreign words with translation to the set (a huge number of languages are supported), and then learn them in the application on iPhone. Now everything is in order … At the first launch, the application offered to log in via Google +, Facebook or register. As soon as I did this, I was immediately “transferred” to the main screen. The menu opens with a swipe to the right. “Lasted activity” shows the last activities and activities of the groups in which you are a member. This is where those goodies begin. As you may have guessed, these are social opportunities. The application allows you to view the cards of other users, learn to share them on social networks, in general, everything that you can do with your cards. It is possible to create entire groups of users (unfortunately, not in the application), each of which can add cards. But the main purpose of the application is, of course, to create your own records. Here you need to set a foreign word, there is a possibility of batch addition. It seemed to me very convenient that the definition can be given both in the native language and in the target language (I think, in order to memorize words faster, it is better to set it in the target language). And a very nice feature – automatic translation of substituted expressions (but of course, words will be remembered worse). Save and name the group. Now you can start memorizing. There are three learning options in the application: just showing cards, showing the meaning by which you need to write the studied word and a game in which you need to combine words and their definitions. After completing one of the training options, you will remember the word you are learning for the rest of your life. Now about the disadvantages. There are not many of them here, but still: – You cannot add sets created in the application to a class; – Compared to the site, the functionality of the application is greatly reduced; – Application in English. For many, this is not a disadvantage, but still (in this case, of course, words can be studied in almost any language). Of course, the application also has analogues (in Russian!). For example, almost everyone is familiar with “LinguaLeo”, or “Glossaries”, which will soon appear in our reviews. Quizlet's large user base, ease of use, social features, and free software set it apart from the competition.
