For fans of the 'old-school' methods of creating icons using sprites, an entertaining app for iPhone Sprite Something is dedicated. If you remember what ResEdit is, or just love to use sprites to create RPG characters in minigames and retro icons, then there is probably no better program in the AppStore's arsenal. Sprite Something is a program that allows you to create original design elements in a few clicks. Both transparent and painted backgrounds are supported with a maximum available image size of 256×256 pixels. The app is available in both landscape and portrait view modes. Also, a zoom was added to the new version of the paid program with the ability to increase each pixel involved in the project. Thus, it is much easier to work on complex, large in size images. At first glance, the program's options, to put it mildly, are not impressive, there are only 4 tools available – an eraser, a pencil, a palette and a fill. But since we are talking about sprite images of these tools, even an experienced game designer will be enough to create masterpieces. Moreover, the palette is not limited to the classic sprite 8-bit colors – the entire spectrum of RGB shades will be available. The resulting image can be saved within the application in PNG format, and then extracted via iTunes File Sharing for later use on a PC. Or use a plugin for Safari and upload an image to the site. Verdict: Sprite Something is an indispensable tool for those who are close in spirit or profession to the sprite method of creating icons and the simplest RPG characters.
