This War of Mine is a mixture of strategy and RPG in a confined 2D space.
You control a group of three randomly selected people. Your task is for all of them to survive. It sounds simple, in fact, the game is quite complicated in the sense that you will have to control not only the physical state of each character (hunger, illness, injury, fatigue, sleep), but also emotional, for example, depression. The latter, by the way, turns the hero into an almost useless 'pumpkin', which is difficult to control.
The game has no background and at first it is difficult to orientate where you are, who you are and what you should do first. As you study a shelter dilapidated during the occupation, poke around in a trash heap, search for elementary objects (boards, a set of tools, water, rotten vegetables, pills and traditional medicine), at least some kind of sequence begins to form in the brain.
After the shelter has been explored, all the items have been collected and all the rubble has been dismantled, you can try to rivet an ordinary bed so that at night the team can sleep alone and recuperate for a new day, a new search for food and medicine.
There are no restrictions as such in This War of Mine. The ruined city lives in the daytime; you can also equip the shelter only during the day. The night is meant for rest, but since it is impossible to find the necessary minimum in a day, every night you need to send one character outside the shelter to search and collect resources.

There are a lot of resources in the game. At first, your eyes run up, you don't understand why you need cigarette rolls, coffee beans or carrot tops. As you arrange your home, design elements of the interior and kitchen, you realize that you can make coffee from beans, something tastier than spoiled tomatoes from vegetables.
The city is occupied, marauders are operating in it, so even civilians, guarding their homes, can be dangerous. Enter the house quietly, do not run, do not disassemble the rubble, all this creates noise that can scare the owners and force them to protect their property.
Shops and abandoned schools are usually already occupied by armed people for whom human life is not worth a piece of bread. They will easily kill you, in the truest sense of the word, and profit from the contents of your backpack.
After death, the characters are not restored, you will have to play either again, or make do with those that survived.
A team can be killed not only by a stray bullet, but also hunger, if not satisfied, and illness, if not treated. There are a lot of options for the development of events, be prepared for the fact that events do not unfold as you planned.
This War of Mine is so exciting that you don't pay much attention to the visual design and sound, which are also worthy of all praise and further emphasize what is happening on the device's screen.
