When I was little, my bedroom was pasted over with Middle Eastern maps of the General Staff, on a scale of 15 km. in one centimeter. I fell asleep in the Taklamakan desert and woke up in Bombay. And I am still very familiar with this region. The idea to use satellite images of the earth as wallpaper came to the mind of the developers of an application for iPhone called Topia. And it turned out well … Immediately after launch, you can choose from the proposed locations, and go to any of them to take a screenshot: You can scroll down for a long time, so Topia has landscapes for every taste – from tropical islands to photographs of night cities from a satellite. Then, click on the location you like, and after it has loaded, simply enlarge the desired area and click on the white button below: The application will request access to the 'Camera Roll', and save the selected area of the map as wallpaper. Thus, you can create a whole collection of wallpapers for your desktop iPhone in just 10-15 minutes. For example, here's what a small selection I got with a few clicks: Topia for iPhone is a free application that, although not full of features, can become an inexhaustible source of background images for you. The author's idea is simple and gorgeous at the same time, and judging by the positive comments in the Appstore – users appreciate it. Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the fact that it is impossible to independently select the desired part of the planet – the user can use the collection available in the application itself. True, Topia has a very large database, which includes the most beautiful places on the planet. If in the future developers add new locations and collections, there is no doubt that the application will occupy its niche and will be popular.
