When going on vacation and packing your suitcase, it would be good to think about what information you need in the country where you are going, and what programs for iPhone can help you. I will share my impressions of several applications that came in handy in Paris.

2 offline maps programs were installed on the phone: offMap 2 and CityMaps2Go.

The maps were loaded before the trip and did not use the Internet during the work. I would like to note that CityMaps2Go has a “Paris – Large” map, which includes a fairly large part of non-touristy Paris beyond the peripheral boulevard, but falls a little short of suburban airports. Unfortunately, due to its size, the image is very slow to redraw.
The phone worked without a sim card, in gps navigator mode. And here's the result. CityMaps2Go in 90% of cases refused to correctly determine the location, and very soon it had to be abandoned. OffMap 2 worked almost always, but sometimes it took several minutes to find satellites.
A GPS Guide program “Around the World” with excursions around Paris was installed as a guide. The program worked great on all routes. Unfortunately, only 5 city walks are available so far.
Another curious program Velo. There is a well-developed bicycle rental service in Paris. There are parking lots throughout the city where you can rent a two-wheeled vehicle. Velo software shows you where the nearest rental point is and if there are bicycles there. Internet is required to update information.
