Today we are testing a new wireless, stand-alone speaker Creative Woof 3, the successor to the famous Woof 2, which we tested in the last days of last year. Oops, a year has passed … Let me remind you that Woof 2 made a great impression on the family back then and was left as a New Year's gift. Therefore, today we will not only test the new column, but also compare it with the previous model. Let's see if there are any changes and in which direction. And of course, the photo session is attached … The main functional difference of the new speaker is the ability to play music files from a memory card. Otherwise, it is the same wireless, stand-alone speaker with connection via Bluetooth and the possibility of a speakerphone. I will not compare technical characteristics, and I don’t have the equipment for such a check. I will focus only on design and sound. My test is subjective: like it or not. So…
Appearance
Woof 2 on the left, Woof 3 on the right. The differences are visible to the naked eye. Here is the reaction, as people who see them for the first time perceive the appearance of these two speakers: Woof 2 – Wow, what is it? Woof 3 – What is this glass? The old model really looks much more interesting and looks like a corporate gift from Darth Vader. There is something cosmic in it. Treshka looks rustic against its background.
Listening
For the test, both speakers were connected to an old, but combat iPhone 3GS and set to maximum volume. In turn, they listened to musical compositions from the VK 2 music application. For almost half a day, these two acoustic systems worked in the background, playing the entire playlist from my VKontakte collection. Frankly, at first I thought that the sound of Woof 3, at best, would be the same as that of Woof 2. I was wrong. Woof 3 sounds different, although the volume of the speakers is almost the same. The sound is cleaner in the new system. This can be due to better transmission of high and medium frequencies. The words in the songs are clear. True, there is a little less bass here than in Woof 2. In terms of sound, subjectively, I liked the new speaker more. The world of marketing requires constant change. Manufacturers need to update their product lines at least once a year to maintain brand interest. And it so happens that these changes are carried out at the expense of quality – the best is the enemy of good. Therefore, having received a novelty, the first thing I thought was that it was the same Woof 2 but in a new case. But as it turned out as a result of the test, this is not the case. Woof 3 is a different speaker with a different sound. And although visually I like the previous generation more, for myself I would choose Woof 3.
