The first iPad was released in 2010 – a few years after the appearance of iPhone, however, as it turned out, the idea of creating a smartphone came to Steve Jobs while working on a prototype tablet.
He had the opportunity to use the idea of Finger Works (multitouch) to interact with a computer without using a mouse and keyboard. When Jobs saw its prototype and user interface, he got the idea to implement similar technology on a smartphone. Thus, in 2005, all efforts were thrown into a project codenamed Project Purple 2.
Just two years later, at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, Steve Jobs changed the world forever by introducing iPhone. In his speech, he stressed that Apple is going to “reinvent the telephone”. And so it happened!
